Abstract: Artificial Intelligence on Social Media

The field of social media analysis, in which data is gathered, analyzed, and aggregated from social networks, has seen a lot of attentiveness in the last few years. The corresponding development of the field has led to the emergence and growth of various subareas, each addressing a different research question with a different level of analysis. This lecture will provide an introduction to the trends of artificial intelligence in social media analysis currently. With this objective, I will organize my lecture as follows: I will review features and 10 social media statistics that we need to know. I will then focus on discussing three interesting trends of artificial intelligence on social media, namely sentiment analysis, stance detection, and fake news detection. For each trend, I will introduce the basic concepts, techniques, and discuss the challenges that we can orient the research in the future. I will conclude my presentation with an introduction to our done and ongoing results research.
